Tata Motors and Tata Power have announced a total of 3,000 fast charging stations for electric vehicles in the five major cities by the end of the current financial year. Those five cities include Pune, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Delhi.
Tata Motors said it plans to set up more than 45 charging stations in the remaining four cities over the next two months. These will be set up primarily at Tata Motors dealerships as well as Tata group retail outlets. Tata Power MD and CEO Praveer Sinha said, “The joint venture with Tata Motors is aimed at enhancing the use of electric vehicles in the country.
Tata Motors CEO Guenter Butschek said the partnership with TataPower was a milestone in the journey of promoting environmentally friendly vehicles. He said that efforts are being made to make people fully accustomed to the use of electric vehicles. Tata Motors currently has 42 charging stations in Mumbai and is available at HPCL and IOCL retail outlets.
