WhatsApp: New Privacy Policy Can’t Be Postponed! told the Delhi High Court on Monday that it could not postpone its new privacy policy, which came into effect from May 15. Mobile messaging app WhatsApp users will be phased out of their accounts if they do not accept their new policies. S

enior Advocate Kapil Sibal argued in the Delhi High Court on Monday. “We have made it very clear that our privacy policy does not violate IT regulations. We are going by all the rules,” Sibal told the court. WhatsApp has denied claims that users who do not agree with this policy are not allowed to use the app.

Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma, appearing for the central government, said there were concerns that the new policy would violate certain provisions of the Information Technology Act (2000). He also said that the center had written a letter to WhatsApp executives and was waiting for a reply.

The bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh had earlier issued notices to the Central Government and two social media platforms seeking their views on the petition filed by the lawyer on the new WhatsApp policy which came into effect from May 15.
